Cocktails are created by mixing various ingredients, including spirits like vodka, gin, rum or whiskey, along with mixers such as soda, juice, or tonic water and flavourings like bitters or syrups. These drinks can be served in a variety of styles, either on the rocks or straight, and are often garnished with fruits, herbs, or decorative elements.

For some cocktail inspiration, consider the drinks menu created by husband-and-wife duo Tryson Quek and Bannie Kang of Side Door. Their bar accommodates 35 guests, with plans to increase capacity to 45.

Embodying the philosophy “Stay comfortable, be simple but embrace curiosity”, co-founder Bannie has revamped the menu to feature minimalist drinks made with carefully chosen ingredients and meticulous preparation, avoiding unnecessary garnishes and gimmicks. Signature offerings include the Non Fruit Beer, Seaside, One For the Road, and Holy Moly Mary, priced between $25 and $26. Notably, the Non Fruit Beer is inspired by the Korean drink somaek, capturing the essence of beer without containing any — it’s made from blended whisky, fernet branca, dry vermouth, lychee and Korean barley.

The menu also features new cocktails like The Daisy ($25++), a modern twist on the classic margarita that combines tequila with fresh celery, plum bitters, Cointreau, and lemon foam. True to its slogan, The Daisy converts simple ingredients into a complex flavour profile. Other newcomers include Shallow Mellow, Heatwave Hydrator, Hops & Hounds and Blossom, all priced between $25++ and $26++.

Armed with these ingredient ideas, you can either try making these cocktails at home or visit Side Door to enjoy them with friends. Especially with the introduction of a new segment at Side Door, the “Tapas & Cocktail Pairing”. This collection offers five pairings for $29++ each, featuring a new drink paired with a complementary gourmet bite.
