Unlike the other corporate awards where a panel of judges determine the winners, both the BDC and the BRC take a quantitative approach, drawing on companies’ financial performance data from their annual reports, tabulated by financial advisory website absolutelystocks. com and then, a set of methodology is applied to come up with the eventual results.
In 2019, the BDC methodology was enhanced to include measurement on sustainability using scores kindly provided by SGX. This year’s BDC is the second time the sustainability scores are taken into consideration.
There are 82 companies included in this year’s BDC, down from 91 last year. This is no surprise as the world economy is struggling with the most severe downturn in living memory, no thanks to the pandemic. The Centurion Club, on the other hand, has 157 members this year, versus 150 last year.
With more vaccines becoming available, investors are already positioning for the anticipated recovery. We look forward to having more companies included this time next year.
