Singapore Airlines (SIA) flies passengers to and from 129 destinations, covering most corners of the world. However, more than ever, the flag carrier is reminded of the risks associated with making big bets in overseas markets.

In the most recent quarter ended June 30, SIA had to book losses from its associate, Air India, which lowered the group’s earnings by 58.8% y-o-y to $186 million.

SIA started equity accounting for Air India’s financial performance from December 2024, following the full integration of Vistara into Air India.
