China Everbright Water has reported earnings of HK$1.01 billion for FY2022, down 16% over the preceding year ended Dec 31 2021. Revenue in the period was down 3% to HK$6.7 billion.
The company plans to pay a final dividend of 5.14 HK cents, bringing total FY2022 payout to 10.59 HK cents, 16% lower versus what was paid for FY2021.
As at Dec 31 2022, China Everbright invested in and held 161 environmental protection projects, with a total value of RM29.6 billion.
In addition, China Everbright undertook various assetlight projects and services as well, generating a total contract value of RMB936 million.
In all, China Everbright's projects have a designed daily water treatment capacity of 7.25 million cubic metres.
China Everbright's executive director and CEO Tao Junjie says 2022 was one with external difficulties and challenges.

Even so, the company "proactively adopted various measures to overcome and reduce the negative impact on its business operation brought by various external challenges, such as the recurrence of the Covid-19 pandemic, shrinking market demand, intensified industry competition, and high operating costs," says Tao.
Hu Yanguo, the company's executive director and chairman says the challenges of FY2022 had prompted industry players like China Everbright to "explore and discover new development paths".
China Everbright shares last traded at 23 cents.
