Data centres have proven so popular among real estate investors that CBRE has upgraded the asset class to “mainstream” subsector status in its latest Asia Pacific Investor Intentions Survey, placing it alongside traditional property sectors like office, industrial and logistics, residential, retail, and hotels and resorts.

In fact, data centres are the fourth-most popular choice for investors this year, ranking behind office, industrial and logistics, as well as multi-family and build-to-rent residential properties.
