As extreme weather events like floods and heatwaves become more frequent, nature-based solutions (NbS) will be viewed not just as an environmental choice but as a necessary climate adaptation and resilience strategy.

In the future, developers will rely on natural systems to protect their assets and enhance their value, reads a line from the Asia Pacific Real Assets Association’s (Aprea) 57-page guide for real asset investors, developers and stakeholders.

Released in October 2025, Aprea’s 57-page playbook spells out the need for NbS; defines NbS types like peatlands, mangroves, green roofs and urban forests; and includes case studies of how corporates and countries are integrating NbS into their plans.
