Enterprise Singapore (EnterpriseSG) and Haymarket HQ will be launching a Singapore-Australia Market Accelerator (SAMA) to help Singapore tech companies expand into Australia.

Under SAMA, Singapore tech start-ups will go through a six-month hybrid programme to prepare them to enter the Australian market effectively. Through a combination of virtual and in-person education in Sydney, participants will have access to masterclasses, live workshops, networking events, and industry briefings tailored to match the cohort’s needs.

Each start-up will work closely with a mentor who possesses relevant industry knowledge to create an expansion plan and build essential business connections in the market.

Participants will also join a trade delegation to Australia – starting in Sydney – and enjoy six months of coworking credits with Haymarket HQ to immerse themselves in the Australian business ecosystem.

“Learning about a new market, building a local network, and achieving product-market fit costs time and money. The GIA Singapore-Australia Market Accelerator is designed to fast-track and de-risk this process through mentorship, targeted introductions, and tried-and-tested frameworks that have supported hundreds of companies across Asia Pacific,” says Duco van Breemen, CEO of Haymarket HQ.

Joseph Zhang, director for Northeast Asia and Oceania at EnterpriseSG, adds: “We see Australia as a fast-moving, growing market that Singaporean businesses should keep their eyes on. Haymarket HQ has a solid track record of delivering business accelerators that have helped hundreds of tech companies expand into new markets. With our joint expertise, the Singapore-Australia Market Accelerator opens up business possibilities in the Asia Pacific region and beyond.”

SAMA’s Australian facilitators will be holding events and workshops from February 21 to 24, with an information session scheduled for 23 February to meet with start-ups interested in the programme.

Ten companies will be selected for the first cohort and receive support from EnterpriseSG to onboard the programme.

SAMA is the first Global Innovation Alliance (GIA) pilot programme between Singapore and Australia.

The GIA is a joint initiative between EnterpriseSG and the Singapore Economic Development Board. The GIA and corresponding programmes are currently running across 17 cities globally to connect Singaporean companies with overseas partners.
