I don't often write reviews for businesses but, when I do, I make sure I spend enough effort to make my accolades match the standard of quality that I got. After having lived for decades overseas, this was my first foray into HDB and home renovating in Singapore. I met with at least 4 IDs and Shawn's quote was competitive. Additionally, his portfolio was impressive for the transformations he had done to some HDBs! But, mostly, I ended up choosing Shawn because of his excellent communication -- he persisted and stayed on top of his quotation, explaining each line item. He met with me in person at least 3 times. I admitted to him that I would be going out of the country when he would start the job so I will be trusting him on blind faith. My initial apprehension and fears (I was warned that some IDs cannot be trusted!) were greatly allayed when Shawn first filed all the permits and then, throughout the renovation process, gave me frequent updates, often accompanied by pics. He even scheduled Zoom calls with me since I couldn't be here in person with each Zoom meeting lasting nearly 2 hours (I was exhausted before he was). Truly, he is impressive in his communication. He almost always responds back right away to my WhatsApp messages and, if he doesn't, it just means that he doesn't have the answer on hand but, rest assured, he WILL respond when he has an answer! Just as equally important, Shawn LISTENED to me and understood my needs versus wants. He knew what I was trying to accomplish with the floor plan, but he was also conscious that I was trying to control the final cost. He did not push me into anything and just let me express my thoughts. This is hard to find in today's businesses. He then helped me tweak and rework the floor plan until the right proportions were met. I have now been in the home for two weeks and I still marvel how well Shawn had proportioned each room. Left to my own devices, the home might feel more awkward so I am so glad I let Shawn lead and direct on the size of each room. Even post-renovation, Shawn continues to keep up with the little things that still need to be done -- fan installation, paint touchup, bathroom threshold reworking, etc. I absolutely HIGHLY recommend Shawn's Glamour Concept and, in fact, some neighbors have already asked me about my ID, which I have been more than happy to share, of course.
