It was really a joy working with Joanne and Jimmy from Space Concepts in the renovation of our house. They provided us with good ideas and suggestions, and were always very responsive and open to our various requests along the way. They are also trustworthy and honest in their work, allowing us a peace of mind during the renovation process. They have a good team working with them as well (project manager, electrician, plumber, carpenter, etc.), and workmanship was great. We are thankful to have worked with them and are very happy with our new house!

We bought our place in double quick time and needed renovation to complete within 3 months. This is not to incur additional rental expenses in a serviced apartment. My search started in Sept 2021 and I selected 4 IDs based on reviews and portfolios. Joanne Lim/Space Concepts was one of the few who responded quickly to an on-site review, so I can brief in everything I wanted clearly without any rooms for doubts etc. At the end of the day, the other 3 IDs either didn't come back with a complete quote, and one of them, a huge firm, even ghosted me after I requested a briefing session to clarify the whole quotation. As we have tight timelines, Joanne was prompt and attended to us at our old residence. She explained everything clearly and we were comfortable with her response, her pricing and her proposed timelines. So we went ahead and signed the contract. From the word GO, it was smooth sailing. I didn't see a lack of workers nor commitment with regards to Space Concepts. In any renovation, there are bound to be some unknown issues with the new residence. Joanne discovered them quickly and kept us updated with proposed solutions. Engagement with us were frequent and we are always kept up to date. True enough, the renovation was completed on time with some small areas needing touch ups. At all point of time, our opinions were seek and if Joanne feels we are overboard, she will gently steer us back on course with useful advices. Materials used were good and quality is great with proper workmanship. The payment schedule was also reasonable to keep us at ease and inline with progress. There are no mambo jumbo bullsh*t that need to pay upfront as they need to pay workers or buy materials. The extensive project was completed in 3 months flat for a 3.5 storey landed. That included massive renovation internally and externally. A feat which still amazes me. All in all, we are super happy with the whole experience and have recommended Joanne to at least 3 of our other friends who have purchased homes. They in return, been happy with the final outcome. We felt that respect work both ways. We treated our designer, contractors, and workers with kindness and respect. These will be reciprocal to reach a collaborative and smooth renovation experience. We did not demand but compromised on meeting times etc despite our hectic and busy schedules. These little nuggets of compassion are essential. All of us are human and compassion reaped dividends in the whole project. From a contract, we are now friends. This shows that sincerity win hearts.

A renovation project will always have difficulties due to the scale of the undertaking. Thus, it is impossible not to come across any hiccups in the process but important in how they are managed from the scale of what is encountered, and the assurance a home buyer can feel knowing we have nothing to worry about. Space Concepts is a family run business we met after speaking with more than 10 firms, and my wife and I were in immediate agreement. Fees payable was not only extremely reasonable, we were together every step of the way - so easy to contact (please don’t abuse this) - and their sincerity was real. From start to end, Space Concepts just cared, and the entire process made it feel like we were building our dream home with family - the relatives you actually look forward to meeting every CNY with a wide smile. It has been two years since hand over, and we are still in contact, even when seeking advice as a young couple living in our first home (but once again I urge all not to abuse this). In the modern world where there are so many options and groups coming together to form ID alliances, it is easy to follow the trends but these systems are built exactly to intrigue and are just good marketing. Any new couple wouldn’t know what to look out for and the waitlist could be long - which you accept without real understanding. So I say there is no harm in giving them a call, and Space Concepts has my absolute recommendations to anyone reading this. I sincerely believe that a simple conversation and the first look of your estimated costs will show exactly exactly what I have spoken and they have been around for the longest time. Thank you Space Concepts, and it has been one of the easiest reviews I have ever written. Perhaps the happiest too.

We gave Joanne and Jimmy a really tall task to complete renovating our house in a shorter timeframe than expected during the pandemic. Their word is as good as gold, not only did Space Concepts fulfil everything they said they would do, they were able to propose creative solutions to troubleshoot every obstacle. Jimmy is a perfectionist which means he won't let the small things go unnoticed even when we didn't spot them such as the placement of ceiling lights, fans, wall switches, etc -- he was particular right down to the centimetre! Joanne is able to quickly understand the client's style and preferences, and propose the correct theme/colors/materials that dovetailed with what we really liked. It felt like she really understood us; we could tell that this company is staffed by very trustworthy and reliable project managers. They highlighted to us that the varnished parquet would have uneven color tones and proposed staining it dark, we took a gamble and it paid off - the dark parquet looked amazing! When we got really fatigued at some point, we told Joanne to just go ahead to choose the tiles/wall paint/materials that she felt was the best. We love how our house turned out - it's timeless and elegant but fulfils very practical needs for a family with 2 young kids.

We collaborated with Joanne of Space Concepts 3 years ago on our Serangoon HDB masionette & it was a good experience. Important things for us when we look for contractors : * our designs & views must be aligned : she can see what we see * our high expectations are met in a responsive manner : she responds to every of our text or calls within 15mins, unless she is overseas * follow ups are dealt swiftly & efficiently : even after 3 years, she still responds to my calls on some defects that may happen through wear & tear. * sense of responsibility : Joanne treats each project like her baby. Of course there are disagreements but she tries to find a common ground for contractors, designers & home owners to stand on. I will definitely come back to Joanne again for our future projects.
