A non-profit organisation for the last 47 years, the Singapore Furniture Industries Council (SFIC) has served as the official representative body of Singapore’s furniture and furnishings industry. As a champion of innovation, design excellence and sustainability, it recognises the talents of its members through the Singapore Furniture Industry Awards, which has been held thrice in the past decade.

This year, as the Awards gears up to embrace Singapore’s new crop of industry stalwarts, so does its name, which is now known as the Sol Awards. With the word “Sol” representing the sun in several languages — the ultimate source of light and energy — the Sol Awards embodies the essence of brilliance and vitality and highlights inspirational companies and individuals.

The name is also selected for its global appeal, honouring achievements that surpass cultural barriers and highlighting the Awards’ potential for regional expansion.

“The Sol Awards is a beacon for excellence in Singapore’s furniture industry. This global platform celebrates brilliance, drives international recognition, and propels our industry to new heights. The awards are our industry’s commitment to success and catalyst for global prominence,” says Phua Boon Huat, SFIC president. “We would like to congratulate all the recipients for shining brightly by striving for exceptional quality, creativity and innovation.”

Held on Nov 14 at Enterprise Singapore’s headquarters, the Sol Awards spanned six categories, showcasing leadership in aspects like design innovation, sustainability, experiential excellence and human resources. A jury panel selected the winners, respected public and private sector experts, led by chief juror Professor Tai Lee Siang, Head of Pillar at Singapore University of Technology and Design.

“I’m delighted to acknowledge our awardees, who were carefully selected through a thorough and meticulous process. The chosen individuals and enterprises have received well-deserved recognition and set a benchmark for industry standards, inspiring others to strive for innovation and progress. I hope these awards are just the beginning in fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement,” says Tai.

Kingsmen Creatives, with a 47-year legacy, won the Gold All-Star Enterprise Award for continuous innovation. Superstructure received the Gold Innovation in Design Award, revolutionising carpentry with computational designs and digital fabrication.

Meanwhile, Scanteak was honoured with the Gold Experiential Excellence Award for its commitment to unique in-store experiences and innovative AI solutions, such as its AI companion, Aiden.

In recognition of individual contributions, Eleanor Toh, Chan Wai Mun, and Elaine Thng received awards for their significant roles in production, project management, and sales, respectively. Other notable recipients include Matex International M15 for Sustainability Leaders Recognition and LFA Studio for the New Entrant award.

“From design and innovation to eco-friendly practices and top-notch retail experiences, our Sol Awards recipients exemplify that embracing change is the key to success in meeting the fast-paced needs of urban living. I commend not just the winners but all members for navigating the evolving landscape of the furniture industry,” says SFIC’s Phua.

Supported by Enterprise Singapore, Workforce Singapore and DesignSingapore Council, the Sol Awards is a strategic component of SFIC’s 2025 roadmap for the Singapore furniture industry.

Phua adds: “Positioned as a key driver for work-life integration and sustainable urban living, these awards will serve as a powerful catalyst, motivating our industry players and steering our sector towards a future where market agility, urbanite-centricity and enterprise adeptness converge to enhance the sustainability of our world.”
