Identifiable by its soft curves, plush forms and innovative materials, Le Bambole’s armchairs and sofas have been jazzing up homes for the past 50 years.

Designed in 1972 by designer Mario Bellini for Italian design brand B&B Italia, Le Bambole’s latest collection takes on curvier forms with increasingly feminine shapes that suit the contemporary look of homes today. In addition to that, manufacturing choices of the pieces also allow every item to be completely disassembled, and therefore easily recyclable.

The new Le Bambole reinterprets colours and nature, creating a statement on sustainable lifestyle. As Mario Bellini states: “Le Bambole is enjoying a thriving and promising second life, a rebirth done in a big way, done with enthusiasm, with breadth, with decorations and with the original flourishes.”

To celebrate the brand’s 50th anniversary, Le Bambole will be staging a colourful pop-up exhibition at Taksu Gallery — a leading contemporary art gallery housed in a residential area at Holland Village — from April 28 – 30.

Organised by Space Furniture and B&B Italia, the pop-up will showcase the timeless designs that revolutionized the concept of furniture in the 1970s. Visitors will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in an interactive design exhibition that celebrates the relaunch of this iconic collection with a contemporary eye and focus on sustainability.

One of the highlights is the Stella McCartney x B&B Italia capsule collection, featuring a Le Bambole sofa, armchair and ottoman in a hand-drawn “Fungi Forest” toile de Jouy print, as seen in the Stella McCartney Summer 2022 collection. The collaboration which launched at last year's Milan Fair was born of McCartney’s long-time personal passion for Bellini’s works. This marks her first-ever interiors collaboration.

The limited edition capsule combines the indisputable quality and durability typical of B&B Italia products with responsible material and construction choices inspired by Stella McCartney’s conscious mission. It will feature an innovative upholstery which is 100% biodegradable, and a toxin-free polyester that breaks down in compost and soil without harming the environment.

B&B Italia products, including the new capsule, are sold at Space Furniture Singapore, Malaysia, and Australian showrooms.
