Changi Airport Group (CAG), on Sept 5, announced that it will reopen the southern wing of Terminal 2 for departure operations on Oct 11.

The move follows the reopening of Terminal 2’s resumption of arrival operations in May.

The commencement of departure operations at the terminal will add to the airport’s capacity and spread out passenger operations more evenly across the airport’s terminals.

According to CAG, flag carrier Singapore Airlines (SIA) will be the first airline to use the new check-in rows at Terminal 2. SIA flights to Malaysia and Thailand will depart from the terminal upon its opening on Oct 11.

All other SIA flights to the rest of its Southeast Asian destinations will depart from Terminal 2 on Oct 13 onwards.

SIA flights arriving in Changi will continue to be assigned gates at Terminals 1, 2 or 3.

Air India and Air India Express will also move to Terminal 2 for operations from Oct 18.

The reopening of the southern wing at Terminal 2 will include various food and beverage (F&B) and retail offerings in the public and transit areas including stores such as Starbucks and SingPost, which used to be at the terminal.

The northern wing of Terminal 2 is expected to be fully completed by 2024.
