Engineering company ST Engineering has announced that its commercial aerospace unit has secured a five-year component maintenance contract from Japan Airlines.

The value of the contract wasn’t disclosed.

In a release on Oct 28, ST Engineering said that under the so-called “Maintenance-By-the-Hour (MBH)” contract, it will provide full integrated component support to the entire fleet of Boeing 787 aircraft belonging to Japan Airlines and its subsidiary, ZIPAIR Tokyo from September.

This is in addition to an ongoing Boeing 737-800 component MBH programme that the it has with JAL

As part of a “customised solution”, ST Engineering will also introduce an on-wing component health and reliability management programme for JAL.

The programme uses in-house developed software to provide diagnostics and prescriptive advisory by detecting anomalies and predicting components’ remaining useful life.

As at 2.41pm, shares of ST Engineering traded at $3.86, down 3 cents or 0.77%.
