Singapore Exchange (SGX), Enterprise Singapore (ESG), and E-Steel will jointly organise the first-ever Singapore International Ferrous Week (SIFW).
The event will replace Singapore Iron Ore Week and aims to become an annual flagship event for the ferrous metals industry, with a line-up of events that have been extended to include coking coal, steel, freight, and mining technologies.
SIFW will have both interactive and virtual events, including the SIFW Digital Summit for global audiences and select in-person sessions at the Sands Expo & Convention Centre for Singapore-based participants.
Official events include sessions with industry experts Aspermont Media, Fastmarkets, S&P Global Platts, and TradeWinds to bring events covering market developments across iron ore, coking coal, freight, steel and mining technologies.

William Chin, head of commodities at SGX, says that the expanded platform of SIFW will allow for the ferrous community to discuss challenges and opportunities facing the industry.
“There is a critical need to seize the opportunities in navigating structural market disruptions brought upon by the pandemic, ranging from trade tensions and supply chain bottlenecks, to increased demand for risk management solutions to cope with heightened price volatility,” he points out.
Lee Pak Sing, assistant CEO of ESG, says that SIFW’s expanded line-up reflects the progress that Singapore has made over the years in growing players in the entire steel-making value chain.
Shares in SGX closed 1 cent or 0.1% lower at $9.96 on April 1.
