City Developments' (CDL) annual general meeting (AGM) on April 23 was perhaps the most anticipated one of the season, held just two months after the group's boardroom tussle between executive chairman Kwek Leng Beng and his son, group CEO Sherman Kwek.

The fully occupied Banquet Suite at M Hotel Singapore proved market watchers right. Expecting a full crowd, CDL had prepared another room on the hotel's second floor for latecomers. Even then, the auxiliary venue was more than three-quarters filled.

Before the AGM began, chairman Kwek repeated his March 12 statement that the board had "agreed to put aside their differences for the greater good of CDL and its stakeholders". He added that all the current directors, including those at the centre of the dispute - Jennifer Duong Young and Wong Su Yen - would remain on the CDL board.
