Tiger Brokers has shown investors that investing can be a fun experience at their event at Yong Siak Street on Jan 8 to 9.
The event highlighted some of the fun and insightful elements of the brokerage’s online and mobile platforms where investors were taken on a journey to the future where financial freedom is attained in a quick and easy manner.
At the event, a live webinar comprising panellists from Tiger Brokers, UOB Asset Management (UOB AM), Franklin Templeton, Fidelity, Lion Global Investors, 10X Capital, the REIT Association of Singapore (REITAS), PFP Financial Advisory and MoneyWiseSmart discussed the past and current market outlook, as well as the megatrends for 2022.
The list of panellists include names such as Tiger Brokers’ chief financial officer Henry Toh, UOB AM’s director of macro strategy and multi asset Choo Chian, as well as Franklin Templeton’s head of retail, Southeast Asia Clement Lee.
Organized in the form of an interactive talk show, the invited investment experts took the opportunity to use their platform in giving their advice for viewers to create wiser and more confident decisions as they go further in their investment journey.
During the event, attendees took part in an investment simulation game to discover their risk appetite.

These games were designed to create a “light-hearted experience for players while helping them discover suitable products for their risk tolerance,” says Grace Yong, head of institutional sales at Tiger Brokers.
Yong adds that the What Would Tiger Do (WWTD) experience store was a learning ground for both guests and Tiger Brokers, who better understood their customers through interactions and a survey conducted inside.
During the games conducted, it was observed that younger investors preferred stocks as their mode of investment as opposed to other products such as futures and unit trusts, in which Yong advises, “a healthy portfolio should include stocks, as well as other products such as unit trusts that deliver strong returns amid an effortless investing experience due to the minimal effort required in managing [a unit trust]”.
A headstart for young investors
With the close of the event, Tiger Brokers has recognised the importance of giving youths a solid foundation in financial literacy. As such, they announced their intention to seek collaborations with universities in Singapore, as well as youth programmes in future.
Keith Carter, associate professor at the National University of Singapore (NUS) School of Computing, Department of Information Systems and Analytics, who also attended the event, adds that the experience “gave participants the understanding that they would benefit from seeing their investments in one place.”
On Nov 9, 2021, Tiger Brokers became the latest securities trading and clearing member of the Singapore Exchange (SGX), as well as a trading member for derivatives.
The milestone, according to Tiger Brokers Singapore CEO Eng Thiam Choon, will strengthen the online brokerage’s presence amongst investors and financial institutions.
In the 3QFY2021 ended September, Tiger Brokers (Singapore)’s parent company, NASDAQ-listed UP Fintech Holding Limited recorded a 59.6% y-o-y growth in revenue of US$60.8 million ($83.1 million).
The online brokerage, in December 2021, announced its intention to explore cryptocurrency and alternative assets moving forward.
