OUE Lippo Healthcare announced, on July 21, that the emergency department of its flagship hospital, Hlaing Tharyar Hospital, will be temporarily closed due to a shortage of manpower, oxygen and medical supplies amid the recent surge in Covid-19 cases in Myanmar.

Hlaing Tharyar Hospital is located in the country’s former capital of Yangon.

The rest of the departments in the hospital will remain operational, it says.

OUE Lippo Healthcare jointly operates and manages three hospitals, three clinics and one medical centre in Myanmar with First Myanmar Investment Public Company.

The temporary closure is not expected to affect the group’s financial performance for the financial year ending Dec 31 materially.

The duration of the closure has not been determined yet due to the uncertainty of the situation.

As at 9.07am, shares in OUE Lippo Healthcare is trading flat at 4 cents.
