Starting from Oct 22, work-related events for up to 50 people may be held at external venues, which will provide some relief for convention and meeting space providers.
This comes less than a month after the government allowed such events can be held within companies’ own premises, which, in turn, is a gradual relaxation of measures as the number of community infections drop to low single digits in recent weeks.
By end of the year, Singapore might transition into the so-called Phase 3, where among other relaxation, up to eight people may gather. The current limit is five.

However, depending on the situation, measures and rules will be tweaked along the way.
“Phase 3 is a milestone that we are saying that we have now put in place reasonable measures to protect ourselves and we should continue to maintain these safeguards,” said health minister Gan Kim Yong on Oct 20.
He stressed that Phase 3, which might last more than a year, is not a signal that things are back to normal. “The silver lining is that over these few months, we have incorporated many of these good habits in our daily routine and have adapted our social norms and behaviour,” said Gan.
“The key now is not to let our guard down and let our painstaking efforts of the past last few months go to waste,” he added.
