SINGAPORE (Dec 6): Thursday saw the groundbreaking of the China-Singapore International Smart Industrial Park in China-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City (CSGKC).

Expected to be completed in 2020, the industrial park will focus on the development of a new generation of industry clusters, led by the Internet of Things, big data and cloud technology.

The development is located at the core of the southern startup area of CSGKC and will have a total built-up area of 177,800 sqm with estimated total investments of over RMB 1.4 billion ($26.7 million).

The industrial park will be developed and operated by the Sino-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City Investment and Development, a joint venture company established by Ascendas-Singbridge Group and Guangzhou District Administrative Committee.

Ascendas-Singbridge Group is jointly owned by Temasek Holdings and JTC Corporation.

Last month, CSGKC was elevated to a state-level bilateral project between Singapore and China.

To be powered by leading enterprises, the park will serve as an integrated platform for collaboration and value chain creation in the development of applications and solutions for smart homes, smart travel solutions, smart offices, smart medical services and smart cities.

In the first phase of its development, Twin Crystal, a signature project of CSGKC to demonstrate smart and eco technology, will be developed within the park. When completed, it is envisioned to be a key location for companies and government agencies to conduct various activities, such as technology demonstrations, brand launches, professional talent development and training programmes.

Furthermore, the park will include co-working spaces, an international innovation incubator, and office spaces catered for various smart industries.

Nina Yang, CEO for sustainable urban development at Ascendas-Singbridge Group and chairman of CSGKC, says, ““The development of the China-Singapore International Smart Industrial Park is a key milestone for CSGKC, and further deepens the cooperation between Ascendas-Singbridge Group and our Chinese partners. We believe that it will provide a conducive environment for local and international enterprises to create and implement innovative, smart city solutions. This will further enhance CSGKC’s role in contributing to the development and transformation of the Greater Bay Area into a thriving, globally competitive business and economic hub.”
