SINGAPORE (July 25): SATS, the airline gateway services and food solutions provider, is collaborating with Dassault Systèmes to enhance its in-flight kitchen operations.

Dassault Systèmes is the French software company specialising in the development of 3D design & engineering software.

SATS will use Dassault Systèmes’ 3DExperience platform on the cloud to create a 3D digital twin of a virtual kitchen that pairs virtual and physical operations to provide data-driven analytics for better resource planning.

The virtual kitchen will capture and integrate all process data and information into one 3D virtual environment, enabling operation managers to respond quickly and efficiently to changing situations.

This will in turn boost SATS’ operational efficiency and minimise food wastage.

SATS says the implementation of the virtual kitchen is in line with growth in airline passenger travel and the need to achieve sustainable excellence in aerospace industry-related commercial services.

Albert Pozo Hernandez, Chief Digital Officer of SATS, says, “The use of digital twin technology helps SATS to simulate different production scenarios and cooking processes to optimise resources within our kitchens.”

Guillaume Vendroux, CEO of Delmia, Dassault Systèmes, says, “Our solutions have already demonstrated improved on-time delivery performance for flight catering services by up to 99.5%. Now, this marks the first time that the 3DExperience platform has been deployed in in-flight catering production.”

As at 2.38pm, shares at SATS are trading 3 cents higher at $4.96.
