Persons infected with the mosquito-borne dengue virus can now tap on PRUSafe Dengue, a new insurance plan launched by Prudential Singapore.

Under this, customers only need to pay $5 to receive coverage of $20,000 against death, should they pass on within 14 days of their Dengue Fever diagnosis.

Customers will also receive a lump sum payout of $500 when diagnosed, or get $200 per day for up to five days if hospitalised for Dengue Fever.

Prudential Singapore’s latest plan comes as Singapore had over 34,000 cases and 29 deaths due to Dengue Fever in 2020.

The National Environment Agency has urged continued vigilance to avoid another dengue outbreak this year.

“With PRUSafe Dengue, we want to financially protect people from this threat at a cost that will not pinch the pocket,” says Stanley Ng who heads the product division of Prudential Singapore.

PRUSafe Dengue can be bought by Singapore residents aged between 18 and 69, and can subsequently be renewed or repurchased once in three months.

The plan can be purchased on the life insurer’s Pulse by Prudential health and wellness app.
