At the Singapore Exchange (SGX:S68) -Jefferies event on May 16, several possible initial public offering (IPO) candidates, including familiar names to local consumers like Carousell and Shopback, were put under the media spotlight. However, most of them were careful not to sound too overly enthusiastic.

When asked about their IPO plans, Eric Cheng, CEO and co-founder of used car platform Carsome, said the company is in no rush to launch one, as the team is still introducing itself to the market.

While the company is undecided as to when would be a good time to list, Cheng feels the world is not “fully ready yet”. He adds that the team is still assessing what other companies are doing and they likely “won’t be the first” to go public.
