The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) announced the appointment of Lawrence Wong, Minister for Finance, and Deborah Ong to its board of directors today.
Ong recently retired as a partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP Singapore.
She is a board member and chair of the audit and risk committees of SkillsFuture Singapore, Workforce Singapore, the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine at the Nanyang Technological University, and the Council for Estate Agencies. She is also a board member of SATS Ltd.
They will each serve a term of three years from June 1 to May 31, 2024.
Wong has also been appointed deputy chairman of the MAS Board, replacing Lim Hng Kiang.
Lim has been serving on the MAS board for 23 years and will be stepping down as deputy chairman on May 31, but will remain a member of the board.
Wong had previously served on the MAS Board from June 10, 2011 to Aug 29, 2016.
MAS also announced the re-appointments of existing board members.

Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Senior Minister and Coordinating Minister for Social Policies, has been re-appointed as the chairman of the MAS board, while Heng Swee Keat, Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister for Economic Policies has been re-appointed as a member of the MAS board.
Both will serve for a further term of three years, from June 1 to May 31, 2024.
Other re-appointments to the board include Peter Ong, chairman, Enterprise Singapore; Tan Chorh Chuan, chief health scientist, Ministry of Health and executive director, MOH Office for Healthcare Transformation; and Quek See Tiat, president of the Council for Estate Agencies and chairman of the Singapore Accounting Standards Council.
Ong will also be re-appointed as chairman of the risk committee.
Quek Gim Pew, senior R&D consultant, Ministry for Defence, has also been re-appointed to the risk committee for a further term of three years,
Ravi Menon has been re-appointed as a member of the MAS board. He will also serve in his current position as managing director for a further term of two years.
As of June 1, the directors of MAS will comprise: Tharman, Lawrence Wong, Heng, Lim, Quek See Tiat, Ong, Tan, Attorney-General Lucien Wong; Chaly Mah, Chairman of NetLink NBN Management; Deborah Ong; and Menon.
