SIA names new CFO, appoints former DBS CFO as independent director
SIA has appointed Tan Kai Ping as CFO and Jeanette Wong as an independent director.

Singapore Airlines (SIA) has named Tan Kai Ping as its new CFO, following the announcement of the retirement of Stephen Barnes, which will take effect on May 31.

Tan, 48, currently serves as executive vice president, finance & strategy at SIA. His career at SIA began in 1995, when he joined as a cadet administrative officer. Throughout his time at SIA, positions he has held include president of SIA Cargo and senior vice president of corporate planning. He was also seconded as president of Shanghai-based Great Wall Airlines Company for three years.

SIA has also announced the appointment of Jeanette Wong as an independent director on the board, with effect from June 1. She will also join the board audit committee.

Wong previously served as DBS Bank’s group executive, where she was responsible for the institutional banking group, which encompassed corporate banking, global transaction services, strategic advisory as well as mergers and acquisitions. She retired from DBS on Mar 1, 2019.

She also served as a director of DBS Bank (China), as chairperson of DBS Bank (Taiwan), and as CFO of DBS Group between 2003 to 2008.

Prior to joining DBS, Wong worked at JP Morgan for 16 years, where she held regional responsibilities for the global markets and emerging markets sales and trading business in Asia. She also served as JP Morgan’s head of Singapore between 1997 to 2002.

She currently also serves as a director for UBS Group, UBS, Prudential, PSA International, and Jurong Town Corporation.

Shares in SIA closed 16 cents or 3.29% lower at $4.70 on May 19.
