Singapore’s Energy Market Authority (EMA) and Malaysia’s Energy Commission (Suruhanjaya Tenaga – ST) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the energy sector on Oct 28.

The MOU will enable both organisations to enhance their sharing of knowledge and technical cooperation in the planning and reliability of gas and electricity systems. The MOU will also help with regulation of wholesale and retail electricity markets and cooperation at multilateral meetings.

Following the signing of the MOU, EMA and ST will hold a virtual dialogue in the first half of 2021 to discuss the challenges and impact of Covid-19 in the energy sectors in both Singapore and Malaysia.
