SINGAPORE (Oct 5): United Overseas Bank (UOB) and labour movement initiative NTUC U SME on Wednesday launched the SME Digital Leap Awards at the Winning in the Digital Economy for SMEs event, which saw the attendance of more than 200 SMEs.
SME Digital Leap Awards is a dedicated digital innovation award to recognise small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and their employees in the fields of digital enablement, employee development and leadership direction.
It will consist of three categories, namely: micro-SMEs with 30 or fewer employees; companies with up to 100 employees; and larger firms with up to 200 employees. There will also be a separate category for individual SME employees deemed instrumental in championing digitisation efforts within their companies.
Companies will stand to win prizes such as a three-year subscription under the Mobile One package of the UOB BizSmart solution, while individual winners will receive shopping vouchers as well as exclusive knowledge-sharing seminars organised by the bank.
To qualify for the awards, participating companies must have at least 30% local shareholding, group annual sales turnover of less than $200 million, or group employment size of not more than 200 employees.
SMEs that meet the qualifying criteria and are keen to submit their entries may do so by filling out and submitting an online form from 19 Nov 2018 to 15 Feb 2019.
“We hope that the award will encourage and inspire more SMEs to come forward and take part in the digitalisation journey. As this award emphasises on staff development and staff involvement in transformation, it reinforces that people are key in an age of digitalisation and digital business transformation,” said guest of honour Heng Chee How, NTUC’s deputy secretary-general, who announced the SME Digital Leap Awards at the event on Wednesday.
“As more Singapore SMEs transform their business to seize opportunities in the digital economy, UOB is committed to enabling their growth by helping them overcome their challenges and realise their potential. Through the awards, we hope to bring out best practices among our SMEs and in turn, encourage other firms to embark on their own digitalisation journey,” added Choo Kee Siong, head of enterprise banking, UOB.
