A non-profit organisation for the certification and registration of carbon credits in Asia, called the Asia Carbon Institute (ACI), launched in Singapore today.

The organisation is a voluntary carbon credit standard that will employ “rigorous project validation and verification processes” in order to ensure that every carbon credit represents a genuine, measurable, and permanent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, according to the release dated Aug 29.

ACI will focus on greenhouse gas (GHG) mitigation projects that use advanced carbon reduction and removal technologies. The organisation is seeking to collaborate with international and regional standard bodies, financial and scientific communities, and GHG mitigation project developers.
