M1 Limited (M1), a subsidiary of Keppel Corporation, announced a strategic collaboration with Accenture on Apr 25, aiming to drive 5G growth for enterprises, focusing first on maritime, energy & utilities and smart estates industry verticals.

M1 and Accenture will co-develop in-class solutions using 5G, the Internet-of-Things (IoT) and edge computing to solve industry challenges and support enterprises in their sustainable growth, with the aim of advancing Singapore’s 5G vision.

Both M1 and Accenture have a history of expertise in 5G development, with M1’s experience in 5G connectivity and the extensive development of 5G use cases, and Accenture’s deep cross-industry and functional expertise supported by its proven methodologies, powerful technology assets and platforms.

M1 has conducted over 15 5G use cases and partnerships, ranging from maritime drones to autonomous vehicles to date. Some of M1’s existing 5G partners include Keppel Offshore & Marine, Maritime Port Authority of Singapore and Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) amongst others.

In addition, with the launch of M1’s True 5G network last July, its coverage has expanded to about 65% of Singapore.

“5G and its game-changing capabilities is something that we have relentlessly worked to realise value for consumers and businesses,” says Manjot Singh Mann, CEO of M1. “We continue to remain at the forefront of 5G development and are excited to be working with Accenture to further accelerate our 5G journey and create a multiplier effect to bring the best value for enterprises with 5G.”

According to Accenture, 80% of 2,500 global executives across industries in 17 countries believe that 5G will have a transformational impact on their business.

Ng Wee Wei, Singapore country managing director at Accenture, says that the 5G network collaboration with M1 enhances Accenture’s ability to drive compressed transformation across the cloud continuum with a dynamic array of capabilities from the public cloud to the edge and everything in-between.

“Together, we will help enterprises accelerate digital transformation, drive innovation and solve business problems as they leverage advanced network connectivity to enable more sustainable practices that will shape the future of cities,” she adds.
