Thaddaeus Ropac’s Asia director on the gallery’s standout moments at Art Basel Hong Kong 2026 and what’s next for the Asian art scene
Options: After a triumphant showing at Art SG in January, Thaddaeus Ropac has returned to Asia with another hit at Asia’s premier event — Art Basel Hong Kong. How is the 2026 fair season shaping up so far?
Dawn Zhu: The 2026 fair season started on a positive note for us. Art SG in January saw strong engagement with collectors and institutions across the region, reaffirming the importance of Asia to our programme. While there is certainly a degree of global economic and geopolitical uncertainty at the moment, the conversations and commitments we continue to see from collectors in Asia remain encouraging. After Art Basel Hong Kong, we’re looking ahead to the rest of the year and are hopeful and excited to build on that momentum.
