SINGAPORE (Apr 30): Made by humans

Never one to believe in machines and robots, Tod’s launches its “Made By Humans” project. The company has always been about the human touch, from the employees in the factories whose grandparents worked at Tod’s, to the associates in shops all around the world. The Made By Humans project recounts the various stages in the creation of Tod’s products, honouring the art of craftsmanship and the artisans who make it all possible. It keeps the people employed and this is something that is so important right now.

Keeping your home clean

Protect everyone in your home with a WCE-200 Water Electrolyser by Ruhen that has the capability to remove at least 99% of germs and bacteria. With the Electrolyser, you can make your own electrolytic water with sterilising properties to clean almost anything with just water and salt. The Electrolyser uses the electrolysis process, where water containing salt is subjected to an electrical current to produce electrolysed water which is considered to be an effective sanitisation agent.

Skin science

Extended “circuit breaker” measures or not; we still need to make sure our skin is looked after. Dior believes in healthy beauty and healthy state of mind and with Capture Totale Cell Energy that reaches the deep layers of the skin. This is done with ingredients such as flowers and plants such as Madagascan longoza, Chinese peony, white lily and Chinese jasmine that work together to revitalise the cells. How do we know this? This is because Dior ethnobotanists have screened 11,667 ingredients to come up with a winning formula.

Sanitise on the go

When the coronavirus hit our shores, hand sanitisers were hard to find and many people resorted to making their own. You can stop that now as Ollie, a Singapore-based essential oils brand, has just launched a new range of hand sanitisers. These sanitisers are infused with essential oils such as tea tree, sweet orange and peppermint along with aloe vera and alcohol. It comes in a handy bottle to carry around especially when soap and water is not readily available.

A case for good

As tourism comes to a near standstill, hotels are doing their part to fight Covid-19 too. Meliá Bali has given 250 pieces of unused pillow cases to BaliLife Foundation for women in the community to turn the unused pillow cases into masks, which is then donated to the villagers and truck drivers. Another 300 masks stitched by the hotel’s housekeeping team will be distributed to communities around the hotel.

Labour of love

Loewe has jumped on the “help our healthcare workers” bandwagon by donating EUR40 ($61.6) for every product from the Paula Ibiza collection sold, to protect children and adolescents in Spain through a series of educational programmes. On top of that, Loewe is also donating 100,000 surgical masks to the Spanish Red Cross. In addition, non-surgical masks will be distributed to volunteer workers, Loewe employees and their families.
