Brunello Cucinelli men’s fall/winter 2019 collection is all about looking effortlessly elegant

SINGAPORE (Aug 26): Brunello Cucinelli’s style is casual and inspired by icons of the 1950s such as Cary Grant, James Dean and Marlon Brando. Today, we can cite George Clooney and the two Ryans (Gosling and Reynolds) as examples, as they epitomise the classic style of suits and shirts made with exquisite tailoring.

This is exactly what Brunello Cucinelli men’s fall/winter 2019 collection embodies (main image). Contoured trousers, jackets, sweaters, shirts and coats provide endless combinations that will see you through your day-to-day activities. The colours are also available in a wide range that you can mix and match. The palette of neutrals, greys, pearl, lead and blue are easily matched with Barolo red, violet, raisin and blueberry. Tailoring embellishments include suedes and nubuck, nappa leather and shearlings.

Noise-free, wire-free and worry-free

Sony expands its 1000X family with new-generation truly wireless headphones — the WF-1000XM3. Experience next-level silence with its Dual Noise Sensor technology and HD Noise Cancelling Processor QN1e features. Its Digital Sound Enhancement Engine HX (DSEE HX) upscales compressed digital music files, including MP3 format, for high-resolution audio.

A wire-free design, stable connectivity and comfortable fitting ensures listening freedom. Long-lasting battery life and a quick-charging function allow for a longer playback time to help make your commute more pleasant.

Crazy times

In 2003, Franck Muller made everyone look at time in a different way with his Crazy Hours complication. This is how it works: While the hour hand jumps to point to the correct hour numeral — each number is placed at an arc about 150 degrees away from its preceding number — the minute hand revolves round the dial in a traditional 60-minute cycle. The new iteration of the collection this year is the Cintrée Curvex Crazy Hours Pastels Asia Exclusive, available in rose gold or stainless steel. There are four dials with four pastel tones in blue, orange, purple and beige.

Big and bold

Jimmy Choo has given oversized sunglasses a new lease of life; this design has a narrow cat eye shape and a thick acetate frame. Take your pick from a colour combination of light pink and grey or dark brown and black.

Secret garden

Chaumet takes its inspiration from the flora and fauna of a country garden. Brooches and cocktail rings feature fun designs such as diamonds spilling out from a spade (pictured), Wellington boots with flowers, scarecrows, blooms in a basket and a drop of water trickling from a watering can.

Tiffany celebrates 180 years of artistry with vision & virtuosity

The past, present and future converge in Vision & Virtuosity, an exhibition that celebrates 180 years of artistry and exceptional diamonds at Tiffany & Co. On show at Fosun Foundation Shanghai in China from Sept 23 to Nov 10 are masterpieces that tell the New York jeweller’s history.

Tiffany & Co chief artistic officer Reed Krakoff says the exhibition will “honour the past and show how beauty and masterful craftsmanship are timeless and always relevant”. He adds that drawing inspiration from the many incredible objects in its archives, the brand is “constantly finding ways to reinvent and reinterpret them for our designs today”.

Installations at Fosun, arranged according to six thematic chapters including Tiffany Love, will contextualise and document brand milestones such as the design of its first modern engagement ring and the Tiffany setting — a six-pronged solitaire setting that highlights more of the diamond’s surface and, with it, more shine.

Blue is the Colour of Dreams features the robin’s egg Tiffany Blue and other coloured gemstones. The Tiffany Blue Book showcases the collection’s defining pieces and the company’s original 1845 Blue Book, the US’ first mail order catalogue.

The World of Tiffany underscores its influence on TV, literature, music and film — the last immortalised by Audrey Hepburn posing for publicity stills for Breakfast at Tiffany’s wearing the 128.54-carat Tiffany Diamond. The final chapter, Diamonds: Miracles of Nature, showcases the brand’s expertise in those gems, from the Gilded Age and Art Deco periods to contemporary designs.
