Actress looks like a queen in Chopard jewels

SINGAPORE (Oct 7): Dame Helen Mirren (main image) looked like royalty at the UK TV premiere of Catherine the Great in Mayfair on Sept 25. The stunning 74-year-old British actress, who plays the titular role in the miniseries, kept in character as she was carried onto the red carpet in a litter vehicle — a wheelless glass carriage.

Mirren wore a necklace and matching earrings from Chopard’s Red Carpet Collection featuring 142.92 carats of oval-shaped black opals, 52.59 carats of marquise-cut diamonds, 18.03 carats of pear-shaped tourmalines, 13.69 carats of diamonds and 3.94 carats of sapphires.

Hermès’ Arceau watch, designed by the brand’s legendary artistic director Henri d’Origny in 1978, sees a new expression of expertise with wood marquetry on the dial. The gold case of the new Arceau Astrologie Nouvelle, topped with asymmetrical stirrup-shaped lugs, frames a dial crafted from tulipwood, picking up the design of the Astrologie Nouvelle silk scarf, which expresses the cadence of the flow and acceleration of time. It takes three weeks to create the dial, which boasts a beautifully intricate pattern. The timepiece is powered by the self-winding H1837, made in-house, as is the dial, 41mm white-gold case and alligator leather strap.

Zenith has collaborated with Silicon Valley-based collectors’ club Collective to create the limited-edition Chronomaster El Primero C.01. The timepiece is made exclusively for the group’s members, which comprise creatives, executives and makers, many of whom are in tech and live in Silicon Valley (San Francisco Bay Area), Silicon Alley (New York City) and Silicon Beach (Los Angeles). This special edition celebrates the 50th anniversary of the legendary El Primero movement. Some of the design features include satin-brushed pushers with a caseback that displays the beautiful El Primero movement and an XX/50 engraving as well as a C.01 engraving celebrating Collective’s launch piece.

Bold step

Confident women inspire Sergio Rossi to create shoes that push the design boundaries. Its new architectural collection features strong hues such as purple dragon fruit and sapphire mixed with optic black and white. The footwear company’s graphic logo dating back to 1969 is incorporated into the sculptural heel.

Wear it well

Can a woman’s outfit give her personality yet not upstage her? Prada has found the right balance in its spring/summer 2020 collection. Each ensemble is stylishly casual in fabrics such as kid mohair; fine ribbed knit; embroidered leather with a raw edge; and gauze in silk. Brocade and gold are used to elevate the design to a whole new level.

Luxurious comfort

Brunello Cucinelli’s subtle, elegant style is evident in its men’s fall/winter 2019 collection. Stripes, colours and textures come in several combinations to offer men a wide range of choices.
