We highlight four of the looks we loved at the 71st Emmy Awards
SINGAPORE (Sept 30): The 2019 Emmy Awards held on Sept 22 ended with not many surprises. Game of Thrones won the Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series while Fleabag, a comedy-drama based on Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s one-woman show, won for Outstanding Comedy Series. As with any award show, fashion observers are always keen to know who wore what.
Mahershala Ali, nominee for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series or Movie, wore a custom-made green jacquard, wool mohair, single-button suit, with iconic couture lapel and fashion show pockets, light green linen blend covered placket tuxedo shirt and black satin bow tie, all by Ermenegildo Zegna XXX. Nathalie Emmanuel wore a Miu Miu black satin gown embellished with crystals and stones, while Gwyneth Paltrow wore a Valentino Haute Couture dress from the Spring/Summer 1963 collection. Michelle Williams, who won an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series or Movie for Fosse/ Verdon, looked stunning in a custom embroidered gown and sandals, all by Louis Vuitton.

Spooky style
Halloween is about a month away, so you should start thinking about what to wear for the big party. Take your cue from Moschino’s spooky Resort collection, which has designs of corpse brides, mummies and skeletons. Some of the memorable pieces of clothing are a gold spiderweb chain embroidered black crepe de chine gown; ghostly grin on white sequin dress; a jack-o’-lantern screen print on silk slip dress with lace inserts; and a black cotton suit adorned with beaded stars and crescent moons in pastel hues.

Happy 20th
Harry Winston celebrates the Avenue collection’s 20th anniversary in a way that it knows best — with jewellery. The Avenue C™ Mini Moon Phase models are festooned with baguette-cut diamonds and come in three colour palettes — dark blue, pink and light blue, with each colour limited to 20 pieces. An eye-catching feature is the shape of the case, fashioned after the grand arched doorway that leads into Harry Winston’s famous Fifth Avenue Salon in New York.
Special Fifty Fathoms Barakuda
Blancpain revisits one of its diving watches from the end of the 1960s, the Barakuda. This 500-piece edition retains features of the original version while making the most of the technical innovations from Blancpain’s experience in the field of scuba diving. The new Fifty Fathoms Barakuda reinterprets the aesthetic codes of the initial timepiece. Its black dial is punctuated by large red and white hour markers coated with “old radium”-type Super-LumiNova. Its luminescent pencil-shaped hands are white-lacquered, while the date — a key element of the original model — returns to its favourite position in a prominent window. Housing the 1151 self-winding movement, the Fifty Fathoms Barakuda is paired with a tropical rubber strap identical to that of the historical models.
