Dessert wonderland
Newcomer House of MU celebrates its first Christmas with festive sweets by its pastry chef Pang Ji Shuang, who has whipped up festive sweets ranging from the local dessert-inspired Chendol Log Cake ($48, centre) to the more traditional MU Chocolate & Amaretto Cherries Log Cake ($39, left). For the first time, the restaurant is also introducing a festive hamper that feeds groups of four to five with a platter of Jospergrilled meats, a bottle of wine and a choice of chef Pang’s latest dessert creations.

Christmas for wine lovers
Christmas will be coming early on the evening of Dec 5 at PS. Cafe@Ann Siang Hill, where Alberto Cordero of Italian wine icon Cordero di Montezemolo will host a five-course Christmas- inspired dinner with wine pairings. Alberto represents the latest generation to head the entirely family-run Monfalletto property in the town of La Morra, the centre of Barolo wine production. This event is limited to 19 seats only. Bundles of joy

Celebrating heritage
Get a rare taste of chef Damian D’Silva’s cherished Eurasian Christmas recipes at Folklore. He will be serving up new festive fare such as White Debal — a savoury and piquant stew of turkey and homemade achar — and Dry Mutton Curry, a traditional Eurasian dish prepared Indian-style. Making their return to Folklore’s Christmas menu are favourites such as chef D’Silva’s famed Sugee Cake and Eurasian Christmas Pie (pictured). Festive takeaways are also available with an advance booking of five working days.

Buffet bonanza
In December, Holiday Inn Singapore’s Atrium Restaurant will present a nightly festive dinner buffet spread of seasonal turkey, beef and ham dishes that will be on rotation throughout the week, alongside fresh seafood on ice and festive sweet treats. Drop by on weekend evenings for additional goodies such as Boston Lobsters and the restaurant’s signature Chocolate and Banana Log Cake. On Christmas Eve and Christmas day, enjoy extra-special items and appetisers on top of the month’s buffet delights.

A jolly good time
At Blue Jasmine, a halal restaurant on Level 5 of Park Hotel Farrer Park, the exclusive Christmas buffet menu takes its guests’ taste buds to Thailand, with a little detour through Europe. Popular Thai dishes such as fish cakes and som tam (spicy salad) are juxtaposed against classic Christmas staples such as log cake and a live station of roast meats marinated Esarn- style. Be sure to try the restaurant’s signature dishes and desserts available at the buffet.

Cultural crossover
The Song of India chef Manjunath Mural spices up the traditional Christmas turkey with his seasonal Whole Tandoori Turkey Stuffed with Porcini Mushroom Briyani. The fowl is marinated overnight in Kashmiri chili powder, tandoori garam masala, mustard oil and cumin before being grilled in the tandoor oven. It is then stuffed with a porcini mushroom briyani and served alongside yoghurt sauce as well as a sweet, tomato-based wine sauce.
