A fine pairing
Montblanc pays homage to the art and culture of Japan
Montblanc collaborated with Chiso Co to produce the Montblanc Homage to Kyoto Artistry Limited Edition 55. The overall design is a specially created kimono pattern from Chiso, a famed traditional textile producer based in Kyoto. The cap features the palace and bird from The Tale of Genji, while the barrel depicts imperial carts. The traditional hanabishi pattern is engraved on the champagne-gold cone. The nib design takes inspiration from the kosode, a traditional Japanese robe. The writing instrument is presented in a box with silk inlay hand-painted by Chiso artisans and embellished with gold leaf. The Montblanc Homage to Kyoto Artistry Limited Edition 55 is priced at €27,000 ($42,737) and available at Montblanc boutiques worldwide.
True blue
Denim, in varying shades of blue, is the material of choice for Casio’s G-Shock and Baby-G watches. The BA-110, GA- 700, BGD-560 and classic DW-5600 models are in dark indigo, while the BA-110 and GA-100 models are in light blue. All six models feature functions such as countdown timer, stopwatch and daily alarm.
Wearable art
For fall/winter 2017, Loewe gives a new twist to classic styles — creative director Jonathan Anderson describes it as an exercise in arts and crafts. Examples include a double-breasted overcoat in shearling dyed in blue, or materials and fabrics that are mismatched, such as these shoes, to produce wearable works of art.
Red-carpet styles
It’s a big year for One Direction singer Harry Styles as he makes his acting debut in Dunkirk. For the July 13 premiere of the movie in London, Styles stepped out in a Gucci dark blue-green wool mohair double-breasted peak lapel New Signoria suit, white shirt and a Cruise 2018 Bordeaux leather bootie with lizard detail and embroidered dragon appliqué.
The modern boss
The iconic “Boss Bottled” range is the latest men’s scent from the German luxury fashion house. Created with the “driven and dedicated” modern man in mind, this is a daytime scent ideal for the warmer season. Refreshing and somewhat milder, it opens with a citrus blend of grapefruit, bitter orange and lemon with a hint of apple. A deeper contrast soon reveals itself, with the introduction of ginger paired with the dynamic trio of clove, geranium and cinnamon. The combination, coupled with the subtle earthiness of vetiver, brings out the character of the “Man of Today”.
It's in the jeans
Whatever age you are, a pair of jeans will always be a versatile piece of clothing. Wear it with a T-shirt to pop by the nearest coffee shop for breakfast. Match it with a blazer and you are ready to meet your buddies at a hip café for lunch. All you need is the perfect pair such as the Los Angeles-inspired jeans by Uniqlo. The focus of the designers is on the 3Fs: fabric, fit and finish.
