Iconic allure Montblanc pays tribute to Marilyn Monroe
There has not been another quite like Marilyn Monroe. Although she passed away in 1962, Monroe is still immortalised in pop culture today. The Montblanc Muses Edition writing instrument pays tribute to the actress with a Marilyn Monroe Special Edition set, which includes a fountain pen, ballpoint and rollerball.
The design is inspired by Monroe, whose real name is Norma Jeane Mortenson. The shape of the pen resembles her 4in heel while the red cap and barrel are in the same shade of her signature lipstick. To match the glamour of this screen goddess, the red resin is paired with fittings coated in champagne gold. The slanted cap top is decorated with the Montblanc emblem and also coated in champagnetone gold. One of Monroe’s signature accessories was a single row of Akoya pearls given by her husband, baseball legend Joe DiMaggio, whom she was married to for just 274 days. A single
pearl adorns the pen’s clip as a reference to their passionate yet brief romance.
Shades of style
Belgian designer Kris Van Assche’s Hardior sunglasses are featured in this photograph by London-based director and photographer Dexter Navy. The model is seen wearing the rectangular mask shape sunnies with metal frame and cut-out temples. The sunglasses are available in silver, orange and green.
Bold new creations
Hardy proves it is unlike any other Cognac house with the Printemps carafe. The bottle crafted by crystal maker Lalique is an allusion to the perfume world. The lines are feminine and its spectacular sculpted stopper with almond-green tints is reminiscent of some of the creations by René Lalique in the early 20th century. The carafe is presented in the middle of a round case of white and pastel leather with a front opening system. This is the first in a series of four carafes by Lalique.
Coach for men
Coach has introduced a new fragrance for men that is energetic, confident and cool. Coach For Men starts with an energetic top note of crisp and effervescent green Nashi pear. A spicy burst of cardamom adds warmth, complexity and a subtle touch of sweetness. The scent ends with a textured base of vetiver — earthy, woody and green — layered with hints of suede and ambergris.
Stop hunger now
Michael Kors and the United Nations World Food Programme have joined forces to fight global hunger through the Watch Hunger Stop campaign. This initiative seeks to raise funds and create awareness to achieve zero hunger. Actress Kate Hudson (pictured) has joined the cause and travelled to third world countries to witness the situation first-hand. You too can play your part by purchasing a special edition smartwatch in black with a gunmetal pavé top ring. Among other functions, the watch keeps the wearer connected to his or her Instagram and Facebook accounts. It costs $679 and is available at all Michael Kors stores worldwide.
Diamonds are forever
Looking to buy her a special gift? Nantucket by Hermès has a sparkling new addition to its collection of timepieces. These casual designs can be worn for a lazy day on a yacht or an afternoon exploring a museum. The dial is rhodium-plated in sand colour and has 35 diamonds set on it. The steel, pin-type buckle is matched with alligator straps that come in shades of matt étoupe, Mykonos blue, cactus green and black.
