SINGAPORE (Feb 21): Fabletics has a new collaborator and Nike celebrates the Tokyo Olympics with new designers

New fitness collection for Fabletics
Maddie Ziegler has once again been hard at work with Kate Hudson’s athleisure brand Fabletics.

The multi-hyphenated dancer, author, model and actress has joined forces with the Hollywood star’s lifestyle label on their second limited-edition collection.

Dubbed ‘Maddie Ziegler <3 Fabletics,’ the series was inspired by Ziegler’s active but laid-back lifestyle, with a focus on sleek and sporty silhouettes with a streetwear edge. The capsule spans six outfits, including a halter midi bra, biker shorts, cropped hoodies and a mesh-panelled bodysuit, as well as a brand new ‘SculptKnit Legging’ made from compressive fabric.

“I’m so happy that I got to work with Kate and the Fabletics design team again — we had so much fun collaborating on this capsule,” said Ziegler, who boasts
13.5 million followers on Instagram, in a statement. “Versatility was really important to me when designing this collection — I wanted to make sure we had something for everyone, from silhouette to colour.”

“I’m so grateful to have Maddie as a part of the Fabletics family!” added Hudson. “Our first collab was so amazing — we knew we had to bring her back again for a totally new collection.”

Fabletics, which was co-founded by Hudson back in 2013, has a long history of teaming up with famous faces; other collaborators have included the singers Kelly Rowland and Demi Lovato, as well as Hudson’s own mother, the Hollywood legend Goldie Hawn.

Nike celebrates sports with five fashion designers
A regular fashion collaborator, the Swoosh-logo brand has teamed up with five famous designers to celebrate the “imaginative spark of sport” on the occasion of the Tokyo Olympics, held from July 24 to Aug 9, 2020. Off- White, Alyx and Ambush will be among the labels participating in the project.

Sportswear manufacturers will be in the spotlight for this sporting event. Nike aims to maximize this opportunity to reach out to the fashion sphere with a sports inspired collection produced in collaboration with five major international designers.

For the partnership, each of the designers has been given carte blanche to express his or her vision of sport and to draw on his or her universe. The participating designers are Virgil Abloh of Off-White, Chitose Abe of Sacai, who is a regular Nike collaborator, Yoon Ahn of Ambush, Jun Takahashi of Undercover and Matthew Williams of Alyx.

Nike has yet to disclose comprehensive information on the collection; however, the available images show that Sacai, Off-White, and Alyx have adopted a neutral palette of black, white and gray, with Sacai opting for minimalist pieces with technical details, while Off-White has focused on urban design with marks and tags, and Alyx has emphasized function with numerous zips.

More lively colours have been used for the pieces created by Undercover and Ambush, with Undercover adopting a palette of red, blue, white and black, and Ambush opting for pink and yellow.

The results of this sports collaboration are not likely to reach stores before this summer.
