SKIRT SUITS

This season champions tailored blazers and formal tops with a powerful symbol of femininity: the skirt. Some designers, such as Hugo Boss and Elie Saab, have favoured classic cuts in muted tones while others, like Christian Siriano and Miu Miu, have chosen retro patterns or brighter hues. Either way, the skirt suit has made a strong comeback.

Suitable for an afternoon caper or more formal evening wear, capes and cloaks give your strut a little more conﬁdence. While Zuhair Murad and Rahul Mishra have embroidered cloaks that touch the ﬂoor, designers such as Carolina Herrera, Chalayan and Giambattista Valli have opted for shorter and more minimalist capes.

Usually worn with a well-tailored suit, vests have taken on a more casual feel this season. Worn buttoned and ﬁtted or loose and open, they are a great way to add a pop of colour or some texture to your look. While brands such as Moncler and Gucci layer vests on contrasting undershirts, Prada’s vest is a statement piece by itself.
