The restaurant will offer a refreshing take on dishes created from the eponymous Cantonese-style Peking duck. Some of the signature dishes include the Sliced Peking Duck with Crackers ($4.80), Mini Burger with Peking Duck Salad ($4.80), Crispy Bun with Sliced Peking Duck (main image) ($9.80) and the Peking Duck Salad Hand Roll ($4.80). All four dishes offer the familiar fragrant and crunchy Peking Duck skin, but each with its own special twist.
The Crispy Bun with Sliced Peking Duck features velvety-smooth cream cheese atop a thin bed of a mantou bun made from scratch. The hand roll contains cucumber and lettuce, accentuated with a Japanese sesame sauce and seaweed flakes, and is enveloped in a crispy spring roll wrapper.
Fung Chi Keung, group executive chef says, “Chinese cuisine has an image of being traditional and old-fashioned, and we wanted to bring something new to the table.”
“We’ve experimented with the presentation and flavours to allow even small groups of two to three to enjoy a variety of dishes that you won’t be able to find elsewhere in Singapore,” he adds.

The Pan-fried Carrot Cake ($13.80) is one that is not to be missed. This contemporary version of a carrot cake is crispy on the outside, yet soft on the inside. To top it off, a generous amount of chilli sauce is drizzled over, giving it an extra spicy kick.
Another popular dim sum dish is the Chee Cheong Fun or steamed rice rolls. Here at Kai Duck, we tried the Steamed Kurobuta Pork Cheong Fun ($6.80) with a generous heaping of diced tender kurobuta pork and the Steamed Beef Cheong Fun ($7.80) with flavourful pieces of beef. In both versions, the meat is wrapped in a thin sheet of rice roll and steamed to soft perfection, then topped off with Hong Kong style soy-based sauce.
Before you waddle out of Kai Duck, be sure to end your meal with some sweet dim sum for dessert. The Baked Coconut Bun ($7.80) was a clear winner, with its glazed bun and sweet shredded coconut filling.
Its dim sum dishes may be great, but also pop by to try some of the comforting Cantonese food Kai Duck has to offer.
