The butterfly holds an essential significance for multi-award-winning singer Mariah Carey. She named her sixth album in 1997, Butterfly and the album soared to gain enough attention to catapult the songstress to stardom. In an online interview, Carey says the butterfly song is about someone spreading their wings and being released into the world on their own like a butterfly. Many critics state that this statement was probably referring to Carey’s own life of new beginnings after a few setbacks in her personal life.

As with all jewellery by Chopard, every collection comes with a beautiful back story: A butterfly whose unpredictable flight carries the creative force of a true music queen. Carey turned to Chopard and its Co-President and Artistic Director, to give life to two stunning collections - a many-splendored Haute Joaillerie collection and a dazzling jewellery collection.
