The Oscar winner’s sartorial choices are just as multifaceted as her acting skills, which turned her portrayal of an ordinary, stressed-out laundromat owner into the focus of a grand, multiverse showdown in Everything Everywhere All at Once. Read how Malaysian darling Michelle Yeoh outdressed everyone on the red carpet with a fail-safe accessory that anchored all her iconic looks: a confident, megawatt smile.

WHAT: Dior
WHERE: 95th Academy Awards
When it came to deciding what to wear for the biggest night of them all, Yeoh looked to Dior’s creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri, who created a feathered white gown in ivory silk organza. Handmade in the Dior Haute Couture atelier, the dress took more than 200 hours to assemble and the team spent 450 hours on the intricate embroidery that embellished it.

WHAT: Schiaparelli
WHERE: Screen Actors Guild Awards
“It’s like a spray of delicious, glittering French fries just exploded,” teased the Internet about the prominent strip of sequined gold fringe that cascaded down her strapless black dress. Say all you will about this statement piece that launched a thousand memes. Not everyone can pull it off while allowing the craftsmanship to shine.

WHAT: Gabriela Hearst
WHERE: American Film Institute Awards
For a celebrated star, there is not always a chance to switch up one’s outfits between day and evening commitments. Yeoh is once again dressed in Schiaparelli, this time in an oversized pantsuit with gilded accents and trims. But all eyes were on the mustard-yellow Gabriela Hearst satin bag that stowed away her necessities and, maybe, some useful receipts for filing her taxes later.

WHAT: Shiatzy Chen
WHERE: Paris Fashion Week
Right before the Oscars, the actress attended a show by the Taiwanese luxury fashion house in a black sequined mini dress, coupled with tights and shimmery ankle boots. A long-time fan of the brand and a personal friend of its founder, the haute couture regular opted for a simple pair of dangling pearl earrings and giant, chic tinted glasses that called attention to her high cheekbones and distinct facial features.

WHAT: Richard Mille
WHERE: 76th British Academy Film Awards
The first present the Ipoh-born ever received from her father was a watch, and that sparked her penchant for one-of-a-kind horological gems. A chunky, diamond-set Richard Mille ticker (of which she is also ambassador for) lit up her caped blush-pink suit as she sashayed down the Royal Festival Hall, adding fitting amounts of sparkle for a leading lady who is fully embracing her time in the spotlight.

WHAT: Moussaieff Jewellery
WHERE: 80th Annual Global Globe Awards
Like the garments that clothe celebrities, jewellery is a storytelling opportunity to express one’s values and beliefs. Moussaieff, which has been in the gem trading industry for generations since it opened at Park Lane in 1963, quickly caught Yeoh’s interest. She then paraded a selection of its diamonds that accentuated a headline-grabbing navy gown by Armani Privé.

WHAT: Jimmy Choo
WHERE: The Film Independent Spirit Awards
Heels are visible only in small flashes, when a hem billows or swishes to the side. And yet, they are, in essence, an embodiment of feminine allure and even female power. These off-duty, party-ready Jimmy Choo pumps are designed for anyone seeking not just the illusion of height but also a moment on the dance floor.

WHAT: Carolina Herrera
WHERE: Critics’ Choice Awards
No fashion stunt is too daring for this Hollywood juggernaut as she flits effortlessly between old-school glamour and dapper contemporary mixed with a dash of the unexpected. (Remember her short pastel suit?) This form-fitting black number with voluminous pink sleeves that extend to the ground like a train makes an unforgettable grand entrance
