DRINKS

Whisky destination

Bruichladdich Distillery

Bruichladdich Distillery, the Scottish brand behind Port Charlotte and The Botanist Gin, has brought the new Octomore 11 Series to Singapore. With four versions — 11.1, 11.2, 11.3 and Octomore 10 Year Old — already under their belts, the new Octomore 11 Series will surely please whisky lovers.

For fans interested in a sample, The Single Cask Whisky Bar at 30 Victoria Street in Chijmes will offer a flight of 20ml each of Octomore 11.1, 11.3 and 10 Year Old ($60+ early-bird price in April, $70+ in May), giving a taste of the unique range of whiskies with an opportunity to learn more about the brand.

The series (excluding Octomore 11.2) is also available by the dram at select bars like Tippling Club, The Cooperage, The Wall, Malts and Tess Bar & Kitchen. Individual bottles of Octomore 11.1 ($260 for 700ml), Octomore 11.3 ($365/700ml) and Octomore 10 Year Old ($325/700ml) are available at Paneco, AsherWBS and Simply Whisky.

ARTS

Back with a bang

SIFA 2021

Come May, the Singapore International Festival of Arts (SIFA) will be staging one of the biggest international arts festivals to take place since the start of the pandemic, with a rich line-up of live performances featuring festival commissions and works by Singaporean artists.

Running from May 14 to 30, SIFA 2021 will be a hybrid of live and digital programmes presenting over 60 shows and 300 performances, categorised into three threads like The Here and Now (works that responded to and were created during the pandemic), Encounters (with the self, the city and the world) and Healing & Humanity (a time for care, connection and renewal).

Highlights include the first-ever collaboration between the Singapore Dance Theatre and Singapore Symphony Orchestra, who will be performing together live in The Rhythm of Us and the world premieres of The Year of No Return by The Necessary Stage, A Dream Under the Southern Bough: Existence by Toy Factory Productions, and OIWA — the Ghost of Yotsuya by The Finger Players.

“The festival will be a moment for us all to commune after a period of isolation and I am incredibly proud that Singapore has SIFA, a high-quality platform of curated experiences and shows to meet different passion points,” says festival director Gaurav Kripalani.

Tickets will be available for sale online at sifa.sg and via phone at 6348 5555. Due to ongoing safe management measurements, there will be limited tickets available.
