Proper Slice BYGB
Fancy some authentic New York style pizza by the slice? Head over to Proper Slice BYGB, a hole-in- the-wall pizza kiosk at 110 Amoy Street #01-02. Opened by the good people behind upscale pizzeria Lucali BYGB and located off Gemmill Lane, the outlet gives us a speakeasy vibe with its back-alley entrance identifiable only by a maroon awning. Just follow the smell of pizza!
An ode to New York City’s glorious old-school neighbourhood pizzerias, Proper Slice serves large slices in paper thin crust loaded with sauce and toppings such as all-cheese, pepperoni, white pizza, spinach and ricotta, and sausage options on rotation.
Unlike its posh older sister, Proper Slice is created for those who wish to simply grab-and-go for curbside enjoyment, or have it delivered right to your doorstep via GrabFood. The pizza remains in its 18-inch form just like the famed Lucali in Brooklyn, but served as six oversized slices instead of the usual eight. Prices start from $8 for a slice or from $50 for a whole pizza pie.
Beyond the oversized, thin and crispy slices, Proper Slice also offers meat- balls, garlic knots, a gooey, meat-filled Stromboli, a dessert calzone and the occasional “pie-in-a-cup”. Drinks include Ramona grapefruit wine coolers, Arizona iced tea, Mexican coke and a good ol’ cup of joe, proudly brewed by the pot on a Bunn coffee maker, to gear you up any time of the day.

Leading British retailer Marks & Spencer introduces a new wine collection Found, all priced between $29.90 and $39.90, comprising 12 different varieties from small artisanal vineyards in France, Italy, Greece, Romania, South Africa, Portugal, Spain and Chile.
The new range champions rare grapes (Roditis, Mauzac and Feteasca Regala to name but a few), styles that break with tradition (a rosé Vinho Verde) and even features a supermarket first; a single varietal Nerello Cappuccio.
In line with Marks & Spencer’s pledge to have a 100% vegan wine range by 2022, all of the wines in the new range are vegan. Furthermore, many of the wineries involved have advanced sustainability credentials; taking part in carbon offsetting schemes, water management programmes or organic and biodynamic farming.

Le Corbusier’s architectural works on display
Alliance Française de Singapour
In the next instalment of its French Excellence programme, Alliance Française de Singapour puts a spotlight on architecture and the creative genius behind some of France’s most famous buildings.
In conjunction with Archifest 2021, Alliance Française de Singapour unveils Architecture: A Day in the Life of Le Corbusier, an exhibition dedicated to the works of Swiss-French architect Le Corbusier.
On display from now till Oct 30, the exhibition will showcase 38 models of his iconic buildings, furniture as well as original prints. An architect, designer, painter, urban planner, writer and internationally-recognised luminary, many of Le Corbusier’s buildings have been classified in the Unesco World Heritage List.
In addition, there will also be a series of talks and screenings, bringing together some of the greatest talents in architecture such as renowned architect and urban planner Dr Liu Thai Kher and Erwin Viray from Singapore University of Technology and Design, plus architects Rene Tan, Manuel Der Hagopian and Maria Boey.
