Art collectors Richard and Lauren Nijkerk invite the public to view select pieces from their extensive private collection of Southeast Asian contemporary art. Located in three corporate settings, their collection includes Singaporean artist Sarah Choo Jing’s Accelerated Intimacy.

Presented by Art Outreach Singapore, the Collectors’ Show is an opportunity for selected collectors to share their passion as well as advocacy for homegrown and regional art and artists, allowing audiences access to key works that are held in private collections. Some of the featured works include those by Yinka Shonibare, Kehinde Wiley, Bharti Kerr, El Anatsui, Eko Nugroho and indieguerillas.
S.E.A. Focus

S.E.A. Focus returns for its second edition during Singapore Art Week with 20 leading galleries from Singapore and around the world. It builds on its mission to showcase contemporary art from Southeast Asia, providing a platform to foster greater appreciation and engagement with the art and artists from the region. Of the 20 participating galleries, half have gallery spaces in Singapore with others drawn from galleries based in cities across the wider Southeast Asia region including Jakarta, Makati City, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok and Hanoi as well as Beijing, Berlin, Brisbane, New York and Seoul. All will exhibit work by artists based in, or connected to, Southeast Asia.
浮槎 Fú Chá

Ng Teng Fong Roof Garden Gallery
One of China’s most intriguing contemporary artists, Cao Fei, will be presenting 浮槎 Fú Chá, a new large-scale sculptural kinetic installation, as part of the Ng Teng Fong Roof Garden Commission series by the National Gallery Singapore. The dynamic installation is a poetic representation on the region’s history of migration and Singapore’s identity as a port city

Dark Waters

Dark Waters tells the true story of environmental lawyer Robert Bilott (Mark Ruffalo) who takes one of the world’s largest companies to court for exposing a community to deadly chemicals. Directed by celebrated auteur Todd Haynes, this solidly built issues-oriented film will certainly win points with those who loved 2000’s Erin Brockovich (the Julia Roberts led flick about a legal assistant who battles a power company accused of polluting a town’s water supply).

Bon Iver in Singapore
