Grand Seiko, a Japanese luxury watchmaker founded in 1960, is renowned for its precision and craftsmanship. Since initiating a global expansion in 2010, the brand has offered its meticulously crafted timepieces worldwide. From March 15 to 18, Grand Seiko hosted approximately 150 guests from Singapore and the surrounding region at the ‘Alive in Time through the Five Senses’ exhibition—a four-day private event held at 72-13 on Mohammed Sultan Road. First debuted in Tokyo in September 2023, this exhibition showcases Grand Seiko's rich history, craftsmanship, innovation, and the essence of Japanese culture through an immersive journey engaging all five senses: sight, sound, touch, taste, and smell.
‘Alive in Time through the Five Senses’ encapsulates Grand Seiko's dynamism and commitment to innovation, rooted in the brand’s philosophy of ‘The Nature of Time.’ This philosophy underpins its dedication to crafting timepieces that transcend mere time measurement, embodying Japanese time spirituality and the artisanal pride of Takumi (Japanese for ‘artisans’).

The Sight section of the exhibition showcased the brand's foundational movements and assembly demonstrations by master watchmakers who flew in specially from the brand’s two watchmaking studios in Shinshu and Shizukuishi, situated in the Nagano and Iwate Prefectures respectively. The Sound area highlighted the acclaimed Kodo Constant-Force Tourbillon, winner of the Chronometry Prize at the 2022 Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG), offering guests an auditory journey of its assembly and rhythmic sound.
In the Touch section, guests immersed themselves in Grand Seiko's exquisite timepieces, experiencing their precision and beauty firsthand. A meticulously crafted Zen garden provided a tranquil backdrop for deeper connections to nature and horological artistry.

The Taste and Smell areas rounded out the exhibition, with showcases delving into timepiece inspirations, culminating in a Japanese Hassun experience curated with Chef Aeron Choo of Kappou. This culinary journey mirrored the passage of time, transitioning from the cool of winter to the blossoming abundance of spring.
