The innovation never stops. Last October, Patek Philippe introduced a unique left-hander’s chronograph with inverted displays and a slim manually wound CHR 27-525 PS Q movement. The platinum case boasts a charcoal dial with black subsidiary dials, red lacquered hands, and a sporty black calfskin strap. The result was the Ref. 5470P 1/10th of a Second Monopusher Chronograph, a ground-breaking wristwatch equipped with the Caliber CH 29-535 PS 1/10, featuring an impressive 31 patents, seven of which are brand new. Among these innovations is the concentric display, facilitating easy and swift readings of measured times.
To address the challenges of efficiency, reliability and rate accuracy, Patek Philippe harnessed its Oscillomax® ensemble, developed by the “Patek Philippe Advanced Research” department, which incorporates 17 patented features, including the Spiromax balance spring, Pulsomax® escapement and Gyromax® balance in Silinvar® with gold inlay, making this timepiece a remarkable feat of mechanical horology.
At this year’s Watches & Wonders in Geneva, the manufacture — which also calls Geneva home — revealed an impressive array of new models. Among them, the Ref. 5224R-001 Calatrava stands out, boasting a unique 24-hour display and a Travel Time function for a second time zone.
