Master of ceramic technology and lightweight design, Rado once again proved its mettle by winning the GOOD DESIGN Award from The Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design, this time for the 2018 HyperChrome Ultra Light timepiece (below).

Clad in Rado’s ultra-light high-tech ceramic, the revolutionary material is not to be confused with the brand’s famous high-tech ceramic. Not only is it lighter by half, the new material is also harder and more resistant to scratches.

Also a winner on the aesthetic front is the marriage of Rado’s signature monobloc case and sunray high-tech ceramic dial. Inspired by 20th century pocket watches, the HyperChrome Ultra Light scores with its high legibility and vintage vibe.

This is not the first time the HyperChrome Ultra Light has won a GOOD DESIGN Award, though. A previous model also took home the award in 2016, both in Australia and the United States. Clearly the judges know a good thing when they see one.
