Introduced in 1991, the Reference 47101 from the "Les Historiques" collection draws inspiration from the 1940s, serving as a reinterpretation of the renowned reference 4178, widely regarded as one of Vacheron Constantin's most coveted classic chronographs. In 1999, with minor adjustments to the movement and a new case featuring a screwed back, the model evolved into the reference 47111.

Both references 47101 and 47111 were offered in yellow gold and platinum variants, showcasing the legendary calibre 1140/1141. This caliber traces its roots back to 1942 and has undergone continuous refinement over the years. Initially introduced in 1991 exclusively for the reference 47101, this manual-winding movement boasts a column wheel, a high-quality horizontal clutch, and meticulous hand-finishing of all components, including "black mirror" polishing, bridge beveling, "Côtes de Genève" decoration, and circular graining on the plate.
