Whether you are an active person or just starting to get your groove on, it is always good to keep track of your day-to-day fitness. Living an active lifestyle does not mean you have to be a gym junkie or a health enthusiast; daily walking around town also contributes to your fitness routine.

According to Fitbit, the brand by Google widely known for its reliable fitness tracking wearables, its Year in Review for 2022 showed that walking was the top exercise of the Fitbit community in 2022.

But how do you work towards achieving your fitness goals for a better you? With a fitness tracker, of course. Fitbit has introduced the Fitbit Inspire 3, a slim and trendy tracker that can help you live healthier, find energy, do what you love and feel your best. It is perfect for those who are new to the world of fitness-tracking wearables. The Inspire 3 tracks critical metrics 24/7, like activity, heart rate, sleep, calories burned, stress and more. Plus, it comes in a thin, lightweight design with a vibrant colour touchscreen and long battery life lasting up to 10 days (based on usage).

The tracker also gently reminds you to move throughout the day, which can help your overall metabolism. Then, when doing a workout, you can check your heart rate to see when you’re in the fat burn, cardio or peak zones, so you know how hard you’re working.

The Inspire 3 gives you insights into your body and guides you to reach your wellness goals with access to introductory fitness and wellness sessions, guidance and challenges in the Fitbit app. You can boost your progress by using the app to log your blood glucose, hydration, menstrual cycle and nutrition information for a 360-degree view of your health, and stay motivated by connecting with and challenging friends and family.

While being active is essential for one’s health, so is sleep, and Fitbit is aware of that. With the Inspire 3, you can easily track all your stats in one place to see how your activity and sleep impact your stress level and vice versa. Wearing your device to sleep, you’ll get insights into your sleep quality with Sleep Stages and Sleep Score. You can also try things like setting a bedtime reminder, a SmartWake alarm or guided breathing on your wrist to help improve your sleep over time.

The lightweight pebble of Inspire 3 is thin, water-resistant up to 50 metres, fits naturally on your wrist and has Fitbit’s most extended battery life for comfortable 24/7 wear. It also comes in various fun colours to brighten your mood and fit your style. You can easily change your look with accessories like translucent and stainless steel mesh bands and a clip, sold separately. The Fitbit Inspire 3 is available for $148, including a six-month Premium membership for new and returning customers.

Along with the launch of the Inspire 3 is the more advanced Sense 2, a smartwatch that aims to bring your wellness up a notch, tracking your health and wellness more broadly.

The Fitbit Sense 2 ($428) includes all the Inspire 3 features. Additional features include a built-in GPS so that you can view your pace and distance on your wrist without having your phone with you; a floor-climbing tracker to record the number of floors climbed whether you are taking the stairs or walking on an incline; an ECG app for heart rhythm assessment; skin temperature sensor; Google Wallet and Fitbit Pay for on-the-go payments; on-wrist Bluetooth calls and more.

The Inspire 3 and Sense 2 are compatible with iOS and Android, seamlessly connecting to your phone and allowing you to access smart features through your wearable device.

Apple Watch Ultra

Surpassing the already very impressive Apple Watch 8 is the Apple Watch Ultra — a souped-up device with a tough titanium construct, a more significant 49mm case, and a new action button to start workouts or launch apps quickly. While offering the same health and fitness tracking features found on other Apple Watches, including a blood oxygen sensor, electrocardiogram (ECG or EKG) app, fall detection and emergency SOS, the Ultra is made for outdoor thrill-seekers. It also has a bright screen, longer battery life, a diving sensor, a built-in siren for safety, and dual-band GPS for accurately tracking your route. It also has built-in LTE, enabling you to venture out without a phone and stay connected.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Pro

If you have a Samsung phone, you will get the most mileage out of a Samsung smartwatch which offers customisable features. The Galaxy Watch 5 Pro will get you the best overall experience simply because of its longer battery life of over two days. At 45mm, it is very comfortable on the wrist, with a bigger sapphire crystal display that makes text easier to read. As a fitness tool, it delivers an excellent overall fitness-tracking experience, turn-by-turn navigation for hiking and cycling activities, and a good sleep-tracking feature. You also get built-in GPS, body composition analysis, irregular heart rate notifications, fall detection, emergency SOS features, and EKGs.

TAG Heuer Connected Calibre E4

If you are looking for a luxury smartwatch, try the TAG Heuer Connected Calibre E4 — a handsome-looking device that mimics a traditional mechanical watch with its fully circular display, sporty-looking stainless steel case and interchangeable straps. Compatible with iOS and Android smartphones, this model comes in two sizes (45mm and 42mm) with longer battery life, a brighter screen, and plenty of sports tracking options. It uses Google Fit or Tag Heuer’s Sports app to track your activity and workouts, which include basic functions like heart rate, calories, workouts, steps and mileage with a built-in GPS.

Google Pixel Watch

Possibly the most beautiful smartwatch available in the market, Google's first Pixel Watch has a natural-not-manufactured look with a glossy face and curvaceous body where you can barely see the bezel. At 41mm, it’s much smaller than the Apple Watch 8's rectangular face but offers plenty of features despite reduced screen real estate. It offers a suite of fitness tracking features and analysis through the Fitbit app and a range of health sensors, including an ECG app, sleep and heart rate monitor, and blood oxygen tracking. You can also use this watch to make contactless payments and take phone calls on its built-in speaker.

Huawei Watch GT 3

The latest smartwatch from Chinese tech giant Huawei is the Watch GT 3, available in two watch case sizes of 42mm and 46mm, in your choice of strap. We love it for its luxurious high-end aesthetics and its highly accurate and fast fitness and health tracking abilities, especially the GPS response time. To monitor your body, it includes a respiration tracker, heart rate, blood oxygen, stress, skin temperature monitoring, and more. Sleep tracking works exceptionally well, and you'll find a detailed analysis of your slumber in the Huawei Health app. Considering this watch has a huge and bright AMOLED display, its battery life is second to none lasting up to two weeks.

Amazfit GTR 4

The best budget smartwatch, the Amazfit GTR 4 packs a punch in terms of its fitness features with a classic sporty look, crisp and transparent OLED display, and 14-day battery life. Compatible with Android and iOS, this device is ideal for sports fanatics and is equipped with 150 sports trackers with continuous heart rate monitoring. It also offers dual-band GPS — a feature that Apple and Garmin only recently introduced to their higher-end smartwatches. In addition to sleep and blood oxygen, it also monitors stress (much like a blood pressure monitor). This device also syncs with Strava and Adidas Running and takes calls on the wrist.

Buzud New Generation Smart Lifestyle Watch T12

Singapore-registered company BUZUD, a leading global medical manufacturer of HSA-approved health devices, offers a fairly-priced all-rounder watch for health fanatics. In addition to customisable fitness applications supporting over 20 sport modes and workouts, the T12 measures blood oxygen levels and monitors your breathing and sleep quality (to determine if you have sleep apnea). It also tracks blood pressure, heart rate, body temperature, steps, distance, and burned calories. These insights will be paired on the spot to the Health Metrics dashboard on your Android or Apple phone. Another reason to buy: The large 1.8-inch scratch-resistant full-colour screen and long battery life, which only require a single charge once a week.

In other news, BUZUD recently unveiled a blood glucose and uric acid monitoring system for home use. The two-function test system provides an accurate reading within 30 seconds. To view this and more, visit its showroom at the lobby level of Raffles Hospital Singapore.
