Singapore is tightening restrictions on intra-corporate transferees.

300,000 migrant workers remain in quarantine as the circuit breaker lifts.

Singapore intends to scrutinize more companies for suspected discriminatory hiring practices as the country seeks to ensure that its citizens are treated fairly in the employment and promotion process.

“We hope that if we [lift the circuit breaker] carefully and do it right, the number, even as it goes up, it will continue to go up slowly, and it will continue to remain under control,” said Health Minister Gan Kim Yong.

“Our aim is to make sure that as far as possible, all migrant workers are free of infection before resuming work when the sectors gradually reopen,” said Health Minister Gan Kim Yong

National Development Minister Lawrence Wong urged Singaporeans to remain vigilant, noting that "it only takes one case - one hidden case, one cryptic case - to cause new clusters to form”.

Of the new cases, 79% are linked to known clusters while the rest are pending contact tracing, the Ministry of Health announced in its daily update.

Singapore’s daily average number of cases has dipped from 40 to 32 since the circuit-breaker begun on April 7. Even so, National Development Minister Lawrence Wong says the city state should prepare for a “long fight”.
